Wrong Way Feldman Strikes Again!

Rusty and I took a brief trip to Hollister a couple of days ago to pick up supplies. Little did we know it was the annual July 4th Hollister Bike Rally

Lots of cool bikes all over the place and signs in every store "Bikers Welcome". It's the first real traffic we've had since we've parked here on Monday afternoon. Of course, we hadn't left the place so there's that!

So then last night we decided to take a drive to Moss Landing. Again we weren't thinking about what weekend it was, but off we went. We couldn't believe how much traffic there was. Once we hit Highway 1 it was non-stop. Rusty really wanted a burger but we couldn't really find anything other than fast food so we decided to pull over and take a look at Google maps. That's when Rusty sees the Zmudowski State Beach sign.

The beach was 2 miles away through strawberry fields.

The smell was amazing, I swear it will be my go to meditation place from now on. It was overcast and the berries were ripe. We saw critters every where pigging out on the piles of berries pickers had discarded. It was such a juxtaposition from the crazy traffic on PCH. This one lane road through the fields. And then boom! We pop out at a massive sand dune - on the other side of the dune was the ocean. Grey and misty but quiet. We saw a fishermen and a couple, but the beach was pretty empty. A couple of sea lions showed up just 20 feet away from us. We must have watched the birds trying to feed on the most massive sand crabs I've ever seen for an hour.

We walked around the estuary a bit and then decided to head back to our burger hunt. Rusty was really enjoying driving back and was going so slow we saw this Muskrat

I've never seen one before. He was in this small pond with a couple of strange birds that I still need to identify. He was mucking with a big stick and didn't care a lick that we were there watching him.

I told Rusty this was my goal. This is what I wanted my retirement to be. Going with the flow and seeing things that normally we would speed past as we hurried from one thing to another. Things that you think are important but really aren't.

Now I am at peace

Wrong Way LA - Wondering Around LACMA

Posters around Miracle Mile advertised that Chagall was at LACMA through January 7th using this image: The exhibit was for  Chagall's music and dance designs . Thanks to a wonderful Christmas gift of a museum membership I was able to go with a couple of friends. Before we hit the Chagall exhibit though for some strange reason I wanted to check out this painting: It's a painting entitled "The Magdalen with the Smoking Flame" by Georges de la Tour. For some reason this painting fascinated me. We stood in front of it and stared for quite some time. It was interesting how we each interpreted the masterpiece. There were so many nuances that it took quite a bit of time to really get the feeling of it. We all observed the fact that it looks like she's pregnant, and were fascinated by tracing the rope around her waste to the blocks on the floor - drowning herself, perhaps? But the weirdest thing was the way The Magdalen looks almost doll-like in the painting. ...

The Other World of Breath Work

Rebecca, the queen of the breath (you can check her out at the  TheBreathZone.com ), always starts her class by reminding you what can happen both physically and mentally when you do breathwork. She’s talked about people having an out of body experience. I would love to go there on a breathwork journey but I’ve never been able to leave my body. I have had one instance where my body and I were moved to follow a different path. I think it was only my 2nd or 3rd time doing breathwork and either my 1st or 2nd time with Rebecca. It took me a long time to do breathwork properly so I’m not sure how it happened. Laying next to me on the floor was a guy breathing. Only I don’t think he was doing it properly - especially since I’ve never heard anyone ever do it again. To me, it sounded like he was moaning sexually, almost panting. It started to irritate me and I took a deep breath and told myself that I needed to train my mind to ignore all outside influences so back to breathwork I went. A...

RV Parks

Well, Rusty and I have been to a lot of RV parks in the last few months (we're back in Malibu as of this afternoon - we don't have as good as a spot as we got last time, but it's okay). Most of parks we've stayed at have been KOA. These typically all have the same things and you kind of know what to expect. The other parks we've stayed at have been Good Sam. Same thing with these, they have their "signature" amenities as well. Then there have been some total one offs - like Pecan Valley RV Park that I loved. Last night we stayed in a Thousand Trails campground in Indio. We've been in one of these before when we went with Sharon and Peter up to Yosemite. I can tell you that the one near Yosemite was about 1,000 times nicer than the one in Indio that we stayed in last night. It was definitely an older park. Mostly sand spots, with a cement or asphalt pad to park your car and a picnic table. The campground was right off the I10 so all Rusty and I wanted...
