Pacific Dunes - Oceano

This RV park is at the end of a road in the middle of farm land. The RV park itself isn't much to look at, but just a few feet away is the entrance to the Dunes.  Rusty and I took our chairs out last night to watch the sunset:

Whisky thought it was the coolest place ever!

We had to hike for quite a ways in order to get a view of the ocean but we found the tallest dune and headed up to the top. Our cute little folding chairs were hilarious as once you sat down in them, they sank up to the seat in the sand.

After hanging out for a while we thought, let's see if we can get all the way to the ocean and off we took off again. There was some growth (beautiful yellow flowers and some type of scrub) and after hiking for about a half mile we popped out on the beach. It's the beach you can camp on and ride ATV's and dune buggies and where did we pop out?  At the friggin' trash pile. We hiked a bit north and set up our chairs. Then the attack of the huge killer mosquitos started. We must of sat for all of a minute before I said, screw this and we went back to watch the sunset from our bug and trash free dunes.

Tonight we'll have dinner on the dunes watching the sunset and then head to Sycamore Springs for a soak in the hot springs.

The Five Words You've All Been Wondering if I'll Say

It happened the morning we were getting ready to leave Glenwood Canyon.  It had been an emotional week. We were doing all the things we did with my dad. Even Rusty got misty eyed at one of my dad's favorite restaurants. But the thing that I stupidly didn't realize was that we were there on my dad's birthday. He would have been 85. That hit me pretty hard but I guess I didn't realize it until we were getting ready to leave. Don't get me wrong, I love Glenwood Canyon. It's one of the most amazing places and it's no surprise why my dad loved living there. Between all the emotions and the fact that I woke up the morning we were leaving to a tweaked back, I think it was just too much. Rusty had gotten up to prep the sewer and, water and electrical outside and I was working on prepping the inside. Making the bed is a contortionist's nightmare without a tweaked back to say the least but I got it made. Then I start to notice blood on the floor. I figure the dog...

Meet Me in St. Louis

Okay, that title is a bit misleading since we're no longer in St. Louis, but this blog post is about our trip to Missouri. We parked the RV in Granite City, Illinois at a KOA campground. The campground was away from the freeway so we didn't have any traffic noise keeping us up, and the pool there was salt water so that was awesome, but the campground itself was like the name of the city. White rock and dust and not much to do in the general vicinity. It was, however, very close to the arch, which both Rusty and I wanted to see. It turns out that Rusty had seen it as a little kid. They didn't go up it so that was our plan. I somehow got us lost on the way to the arch but for those of you who follow me on Facebook you know I was really excited that I did because we got to go across this bridge: We were in the Fiat so it wasn't as cool as being in the RV but the bridge itself was way more exciting than the typical bridges we've been driving over, like this one...
