Below the Mason Dixon Line...

Well here we are in Red Bay Alabama, we are at the Tiffin Factory Service Center getting some warranty work done and also taking the Tiffin Factory tour, I'd just as soon not be here in the Deep South but the low voltage reading has not gone away and it's a critical fix, and since Nashville is only 180 miles from here we figured we'd go ahead and do it here. They have a campground (well really a BIG ASS parking lot) with full hookups so you can stay in the RV while waiting for the service...and at least the weather hasn't been too bad, it's been cloudy and cool (well at least cool at night, we've been able to shut off the AC while sleeping). Entering Alabama, Governor Kay Ivey took over for the other guy when he got caught diddling his secretary who was not his wife...he's a Republican so he really didn't need to quit over that but he also got caught  bribing the Chief of the Alabama State Troopers to not tell his wife... Nashville Tourists

We LOVE Nashville. There is so much to do here, the people are wonderful and the food delicious!   The KOA campground here is by far the nicest we've been in. The site is huge. Not only did we not have to unhook the dolly from the RV, but we were able to park the Fiat and another car in our site. The weirdest thing was that for some reason neither Rusty or I took a picture of the RV while it was parked. I did get a picture from the front door of the RV but it's hard to get the perspective: Each site has a fire pit, a table and chairs and a rocking bench. We didn't spend a lot of time here because there was so much to do, but we loved it all the same. Rusty and I couldn't leave Nashville without doing a couple of tourist stops. We decided to do two completely polar opposites while we were there. Our first tourist stop was the  Haunted Hearse Tour . They drive you around in a hearse that's had the top chopped off and benches added for seats. For some strange re...

Total Eclipse of My Heart

Well, our push to get to Nashville for the eclipse worked out perfectly. We were here and settled in and ready to go on Monday. The weather called for partly cloudy skies so we weren't sure how successful we were going to be. All the way across the country Rusty and I saw signs about traffic and how crazy it was predicted to be on the road so we decided that we would stay in one place and hope for the best. It was partly cloudy which made it cooler than it would have been otherwise, but as it got closer and closer to the full eclipse and clouds blocked the sun we thought we were going to miss it, then at just at the right time, out popped the sun from behind the clouds and we got the full effect.  We even got to see shadow bands! The only thing we missed was seeing the horizon look like sunset. Enjoy! xoxox Julie Guiness Eclipse Fee for Using the Colander Full Eclipse Photo Credit: Bill Kath (my brother) ...

Meet Me in St. Louis

Okay, that title is a bit misleading since we're no longer in St. Louis, but this blog post is about our trip to Missouri. We parked the RV in Granite City, Illinois at a KOA campground. The campground was away from the freeway so we didn't have any traffic noise keeping us up, and the pool there was salt water so that was awesome, but the campground itself was like the name of the city. White rock and dust and not much to do in the general vicinity. It was, however, very close to the arch, which both Rusty and I wanted to see. It turns out that Rusty had seen it as a little kid. They didn't go up it so that was our plan. I somehow got us lost on the way to the arch but for those of you who follow me on Facebook you know I was really excited that I did because we got to go across this bridge: We were in the Fiat so it wasn't as cool as being in the RV but the bridge itself was way more exciting than the typical bridges we've been driving over, like this one...
