Bye Bye, Bama

We left Red Bay, Alabama this morning. We know one minor thing isn't fixed on the RV and we still may have the low voltage issue but they did find loose connections to the battery. They told us it would take a couple of days of driving it to charge it up again.

We ended up in three different repair bays and one "house" call to the RV over the course of five days. Not too bad, but there really wasn't much to do since we had to be with the RV and ready to move at a moment's notice. On Friday we thought we were done but we saw the upper seal on one of the slides was coming apart. Luckily, we hadn't checked out and we were able to get back in the bay to have it fixed.

Of the six full days we were there we only ate out once, which makes sense since there is not many choices for dining. We did hit the grocery store in town for milk and eggs. Thank goodness I got fruits and vegetables in Nashville... Avocados were $3.39/ea at the Piggly Wiggly in Red Bay and about 1/2 of the size.

Thursday early evening we were hit by Harvey. I still can't believe how much rain fell. We took the dog out in between downpours. We were walking in 4" of water. The drain spouts at the end of the RV park were a fountain and the streets were so flooded we almost saw three accidents within 15 minutes. We found out the next day tornadoes touched down all around us. The closest about 40 miles away.

We only got the downpour for a  couple of hours. I can't imagine what Texas experienced.

On towards South Carolina with a quick stop in Sweetwater, Tennessee. I think I may have found another tourist thing to do so stay tuned!!!

xoxo

Ever Wonder

How those huge pine trees grow on the steep cliff walls?  I know I have, but we found out in Glenwood Canyon: As you can clearly see from this hidden camera photo, the mountain regurgitates the trees onto the cliff walls. Inquiring minds want to know... xoxxo Julie

Cars

I have owned and/or driven more than 40 cars in my life (and at least 10 motorcycles and maybe 15 or 20 bicycles but that’s another story). I started with the family station wagon, a 69 Dodge Polara with facing rear seats that my dad sold me for $400. Then one morning after an all night party I loaned it to some idiot I had just met and he went out and got it t-boned (wait who was the idiot here?). I drove it for a while after that but it was seriously compromised. I sold it to a junk yard for $25.   69 Dodge Polara (stock photo) My mom gave me her car, it was a 76 golden-brown Plymouth Fury coupe, I was fond of it because it was the first car I owned with an ass-kicking stereo. It always ran rough though and one day it just conked out and I left it at the side of the road. I intended to tow it home but the cops got there first and I never could afford to get it out of the impound. My dad then sold me his 72 Buick LeSabre, again for $400. I drove that f...
