We made it to our snowbird paradise. It's the Outdoor Resort in Indio. This place is amazing. A private gated community in the desert, with a golf course, three swimming pools, pickle ball courts (it's an RV community thing - I call it whiffle ball for old folks), restaurant on site, community activities and a grass dog walk that goes on for about a mile. The fee for the site we rented is about as much as our mortgage was, but not quite. We choose a site that was setup for privacy. It backs up against a large wall with hedges creating privacy between the sites. Our particular site has an outdoor area with a TV, a fire feature and a full kitchen:
The resort is an RV park where the sites are owned by individuals and can be customized provided they meet the guidelines of the home owners association. Compare this to the site we had in Malibu - which was almost as much money:
You can see why I considered it paradise, I'm sure. Not only that, but I'm a desert girl at heart. The weather is amazing and there are tons of delicious restaurants close by. The resort is a quick bike ride to the Shield's Date Garden. One morning on our way to breakfast at a nearby Mexican restaurant in Old Town La Quinta, this is what crossed our path:
No coyote chasing him but Mr. Roadrunner definitely wasn't in any hurry to get away from us.
My favorite thing to do at the resort, is to ride my bike around sunset with a glass of wine or a cocktail and watch the sunset turn the sky pink, then purple, and then go dark; while the Christmas decorations on the RV's in the resort come twinkling on.
Life is funny though and sometimes you don't always get what you expect. Are you familiar with the saying:

Rusty and I weren't at the resort very long before we found out he has health issues that require us to be closer to our doctors in LA. In a very short time we had to make decisions about what we should do next. We finally decided we needed to let our dream go for the time being so we've rented an apartment off of Miracle Mile in LA and have sold the RV. If the dream is meant to be, then we will try it again once Rusty's health is stable.
What I can tell you for sure is that the ONLY thing that matters in life is your family. Dreams come and go and even change as you change, but family is forever. I'm not just talking about blood relatives, but the people you surround yourself with. I couldn't have gotten through the last few weeks without them. I also am not giving up on Wrong Way. For a little while, Wrong Way is just going to be limited to adventures within walking distance of Miracle Mile. There is so much beauty in this world. I figured I went through life in LA in the fast lane and I missed a lot. Now that I'm retired, I'll keep my eyes and ears open and let's see what I've missed in the last 31 years.
